Spring Reset & Renewal
There is something magical about spring, and I feel this season does not get enough love. I know the allergies and excessive rain add to the list of cons regarding spring, but there is a lot of good too. The days stretch a little longer, the temperature starts to warm up, and the beautiful world is blooming again – right on time for those vibrant flowers.
With any weather change, we often think about changing our wardrobe, but I believe spring is always the perfect season for a reset. Winter felt especially heavy for me and a lot of you too, so this is our gentle invitation to step into spring with reset and renewal in mind.
Reset Your Space
Tidying up is so important in our spaces, but I really want to lean in to creating an environment that provides me with peace and productivity. I want to focus on my never-ending project list without losing my mind and also have that space for rest and relaxation.
Declutter – Go room to room and ask the easy question, “does this add value to my life?” or as Marie Kondo told us, “does this spark joy?”
If not, discard or donate. You can also sell items, but if you know you are not going to list the item and only start another pile of clutter then…let that go, sis.
Organize – Rearrange your workspace, rearrange your pantry, rearrange your bathroom storage closet, rearrange your coat closet, rearrange your bedroom closet…honestly all the closets (don’t worry, it’s long overdue for me too).
Refresh – Add fresh cut flowers or faux greenery (because again, allergies), open windows and clean those mirrors to maximize light, swap out darker or heavy décor for light, airy touches (throw pillows, linens, etc.), choose artwork with subtle colours, rearrange furniture, or add new candles for the season.
Reset Your Routine
My therapist is always on me about my routine especially when I mention that I had trouble sleeping, and although talk of a routine drives me crazy, she is right.
With a new season comes an opportunity to reevaluate what is working and what needs to change.
Morning routine – If I challenged you to start your day with more intention, what could that look like? A morning walk? Meditation? Five minutes of quiet time? Five minutes of stretching? Journaling? Five minutes of prayer?
Health routine – Prioritize movement because you and I both know you haven’t been. Take advantage of the warmer days, nature walks, or even an outdoor workout. Hop in the pool. Stretch in the sunshine. Eat better and eat well. Take your vitamins.
Simplicity routine – We are all so crazy busy and the often the gift of time seems nonexistent. Some of us barely made it out of the holiday season alive with nonstop events, shopping, and family time. Take time to be intentional to what you say “no” to in order to say “yes” to what truly matters.
Routines obviously give us structure, and that can guide us to better patterns and provide purpose.
Reset Your Health
Eat better and eat well. More veggies. More greens. More fruits. More protein. More fiber. Fuel your body. Take your vitamins. Listen to your body and rest when needed (the days are longer for a reason).
Create moments of joy – however that may look to you (dancing, reading, starting a new hobby, catching up on a tv show, watching the sunset, catching up with a friend, etc.).
Your happiness and well-being thrive when you take care of yourself.
Renew Your Mindset
Always easier said than done, but let go of what no longer serves you.
Release negatives thoughts, beliefs that limit you, or habits that hold you back.
Practice gratitude!
You can keep a list of what brings you joy or simply answer the question of “what am I grateful for today?” Gratitude allows us to shift our focus to positivity.
Fresh perspectives
Stay curious and open – what new opportunities can you welcome in?
Anything you do helps. Small shifts can lead to a powerful reset.
Spring can be your fresh start. As the flowers, trees, and world around you blooms – remember that you can do the same. Here’s to the season where you realign, refresh, and reset a lighter version of you.
What is one thing you are resetting this spring?
Ever yours,
Shay
